THE AGE OF THE ECOSYSTEM

The most undervalued opportunity lies in connectivity. It is taken for granted.

No, really, it is. Let’s just turn the clock back just 10 years. So, it’s 2014. Can you remember what it was like to watch your favorite YouTube video back in 2014? If you weren’t living in a highly connected metropolitan area, chances are that you were yearning for a WiFi connection every time.

Now, with 5G (and fast connecting technologies such as mmWave), all we need is a smartphone. You can whip it out, turn on your hotspot, and work remotely anywhere with a cellular connection.

Also, this technologies  have paved the way for us to connect via social media apps. So, families and friends can get updated on what their best friends are up to and how they are doing without frequently calling or asking them to meet face-to-face often.

It’s fascinating and truly a marvel how mobile we’ve become, and it’s all thanks to mobile connectivity.

I remember watching old movies where mobile communications and mobile working were only for rich people. Now, anyone with a laptop and a smartphone can get work done globally. It’s truly a fascinating achievement and an advancement for humanity in general.

Then the question is who is to be credited for this achievement?

Companies like Qualcomm, Skyworks, Broadcomm all attributed to this great democratization of mobile connection.

Yet the market in 2024, fueled by the demand for AI dominance, had created a space race to build infrastructure for the next gen AI architecture. But these infrastructures are worthless if you can’t get any connection between devices or with one another.

This is something to think about, ‘are we under valuing the worth of connectivity?’
Whats the point of creating the ultimate device or a machine if it cannot connect and create a synergy effect in an ecosystem.

Rather than waiting for a single do-it-all killer device for us to use, it is most likely that the next killer innovation will be plural. It’s about who has the best ecosystems to lock a customer in to have the best immersive experience.

The age of connectivity and technology being woven into our lives is upon us, and we need to prepare for what’s next.
