The undervalued opportunity – The connectivity aspect of technology

No, really, it is. Let’s just wind the clock back just 10 years. So, it’s 2014. Can you remember what it was like to watch your favorite YouTube video back in 2014? If you weren’t living in a highly connected metropolitan area, chances are that you were yearning for some WiFi connection every time.

Now, with 5G (and technology such as mmWave), all we need is a smartphone. You can whip it out, turn on your hotspot, and work remotely anywhere that has a cellular connection.

Also, these technologies have paved the way for us to connect via social media apps. So, families and friends can get updated on what their best friends are up to and how they are doing without frequently calling or asking them to meet face-to-face often.

It’s fascinating and truly a marvel how mobile we’ve become, and it’s all thanks to mobile connectivity.

I remember watching old movies where mobile communications and mobile working were only for rich people. Now, anyone with a laptop and a smartphone can get work done globally. It’s truly a fascinating achievement and an advancement for humanity in general.

Then the question is who is to be credited for this achievement?

Companies like Qualcomm, Skyworks, Broadcomm all attributed to this great democratization of mobile connection.

Yet the market in 2024, fueled by the demand for AI dominance, had created a space race to build infrastructure for AI architecture. But this infrastructure is worthless if you can’t get you to connect with others.

This is something to think about, ‘are we undervaluing the worth of connectivity?’
