When will we see actual intelligence from artificial technologies?

You know, with all the hype about Artificial Intelligence, I can’t help but feel like it’s all just a bunch of buzzwords.

Sure, companies are storing massive amounts of data and using fancy inference techniques to make predictions and stuff, but where are the real-world applications that blow people’s minds?

I mean, I follow tech trends closely, and I’m not seeing anything truly groundbreaking. Yet, companies are pouring billions into building data storage infrastructures.

It reminds me of the time before Steve Jobs launched the iMac. Everyone was investing heavily in IT infrastructure and data centers, but there was a lack of innovative devices that truly inspired people (a generation of tech fanatics).

When we have lackluster product launches companies are just churned away in spending all their money in building infrastructures.

So I guess history repeats itself.

Then I have to ask myself…

Where is the next iMac?

All this spending on data centers are to justify a bright future… that user will be using it for their own benefit.

The best form factor or a medium to enables users to do so is via cool products.

By cool products I mean devices. Its true. Hardware drives real economy to move.We have all these great mechanisms to connect with on another (social media) because smartphones are ubiquitous in our lives.
