Spatial computing has a lot of benefits. But where are the applications?

Apple’s new Vision Pro is out, and social media influencers are all over it, debating its good and bad points. Could this be the game-changer we’ve been waiting for? A device that unlocks entirely new markets beyond smartphones, tablets, etc.?

Meta (formerly Facebook) jumped ahead in this “spatial computing” space, offering several versions of their own tech. But since the iPhone launch in 2007, no one’s really created a completely new market that took off in a big way (a market where demand truly sticks and has the scalability to grow in multitudes). So, will the Vision Pro be the next big thing? We’ll have to wait and see!

Yes sadly (in a fanboy of innovation’s perspective) the world is still suck with laptops, desktops, tablets, and smartphones. From every marketing manager to product designers/developers have been wrapping their heads around getting more sales numbers in already existing markets. Frankly these markets have plateaued. And special computing can be a real driver that everyone is yearning for.

But it all depends on how effectively we can infuse it to our productivity. This, in turn, relies on the applications that get developed. The crucial question we must ask is whether spatial computing has the potential to transcend the current limitations of pre-existing devices. For instance, the traders on Wall Street or app developers—they’re often confined to multiple monitors, restricted by the physical limitations of their hardware. However, imagine an application that liberates these professionals from such constraints, allowing them to seamlessly use multiple monitors and synthesize information for optimal output. In my view, this presents abundant opportunities for exponential growth in this sector.

Contrary to current trends on people comparing the spatial computing devices. I really don’t care if Meta’s Quest is better than Apple’s Vision Pro (or vice versa). People have their opinions, and I am not here to compare and contrast every little detail between the experiences I got from each devices and comment which is better. I have the greatest respect for both companies in trying to go beyond the market limitations and creating something new. My hope is for the two companies to learn from each other and continuously improve their devices.

This commitment to advancement will undoubtedly lead to wealthier opportunities.

I believe special computing can bring a more connected world. Connected world will make the world seamlessly flatter and closer and more intertwined. The productivity and the benefits we will get form being connected around the world is tremendously beneficial.

There is never the case where being more connected brought disadvantages. The world already enjoys great technology at a lower price thanks to the globalization. Spatial computing can turn this trend into hyper drive.
